Welcome
The School of Government provides educational and other resources to judicial officials, prosecutors, defenders and others
involved in the North Carolina criminal justice system. The School publishes comprehensive materials summarizing elements
of North Carolina crimes, as well as the law of arrest, search and seizure, self-defense, and other important topics and
recent developments in criminal law and procedure. The School of Government's published materials are used by judicial
officials and private practitioners throughout the state and nationally. The School's educational programs include training
on criminal law and procedure for judicial officials, local government officials, and attorneys who provide indigent
defense services.
